From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Two people were killed when the home-built experimental airplane they were flying crashed on a Northern California ranch, officials said Monday.

Federal Aviation Agency spokesman Ian Gregor said the crash of the two-seat RV-6 was reported about 10:15 a.m. on the privately owned Corda Ranch east of U.S. 101 near the Marin and Sonoma county line.

One of the victims was identified as Richard Terry Tevis, 64, of Novato. Authorities were working to identify the second victim, a female, late Monday.

Gregor said the FAA was unsure exactly when the plane crashed or from where it had taken off, but records showed it departing from Petaluma Airport on Sunday.
