Separate fires at home, apartment building
Separate blazes gutted a house and an apartment Saturday, injuring at least two people and displacing more than dozen others, officials said.
The first fire began about 3:45 a.m. in the bedroom of an apartment complex in the 1600 block of King Street. No one was injured, but 16 people were displaced and are being housed by the American Red Cross, officials said.
The second fire broke out about 9:45 a.m. at a house in the 2500 block of Hesperian Street. One person was hospitalized with second-degree burns to the face and chest, and a firefighter was treated for minor injuries, fire officials said.
