Call Personal Fouls on All Kobe Haters

Share

It was very disappointing, to say the least, to read some of the letters that were written about Kobe Bryant in last Saturday’s Viewpoint.

How much longer are people going to bring his personal life to the basketball court? Kobe is not perfect, but you would think that some of those people think they are. Maybe it helps them sleep better at night to judge other people and not themselves. Maybe this would be a better place if we just left the past where it belongs ... in the past.

Good luck to you, Kobe, and the Lakers. To the rest of us? Let’s just appreciate the talent and skills of an individual of our hometown team.

The good rabbi made an interesting point [Viewpoint, Jan. 28] about Kobe and Rip Hamilton. Kobe’s numbers are far superior, but Hamilton’s team has a much better record.

Of course, using similar logic, couldn’t you also argue that Darko Milicic is better than Kevin Garnett?

Silly rabbi, statistics are for kids. If you swapped Kobe Bryant and Rip Hamilton from their respective teams, I suspect Kobe’s scoring would be down, assists up and the win total as good, if not better. I have a hard time believing a Rip Hamilton-led team that consisted of this Laker roster would be above .500.

Kobe could save a load of children from a burning school bus and people would accuse him of doing it just for the PR.

Wow! What a game against that great Pacer team. Kobe has finally learned how to tone down his talent and blend in with the rest of his mediocre teammates and “share and share alike.”

I’m going to stop watching for a while because I can’t stand to see Kobe suffer like he did last night; I love him too much for that.

Besides Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum is the most fun-to-watch player on the Lakers. It’s obvious to anyone that watches the games. Apparently Phil Jackson doesn’t watch. How about Dr. Buss?

Twenty letters were published in Viewpoint on Jan. 28. All 20 were about Kobe Bryant. Next thing you know, they’ll be naming a soft drink after him. Anyone care for a Kobe-Cola?
