The Grammys

This is one awards show that is nothing if not thorough: Wednesday night’s telecast from Staples Center will mark the climax of voting in 108 musical categories. They even differentiate between Best Pop Album and Best Traditional Pop Album--though most of us would be hard-pressed to define that difference. It’s fitting the show embraces so much, taking place as it does in a city where you can hear it all, and where the performers range from ambitious hell-raisers to more unassuming souls. For Angelenos, that means the music won’t stop even when the show is over.
