Point Determined, a 3-year-old son of Point Given, will try for his second career win today in the seventh race at Golden Gate Fields.

A contender for the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby on April 8, Point Determined was a 5 1/2 -length maiden winner on Jan. 13, then disappointed as the 1-2 betting favorite his first time out against winners on Feb. 3.

Trained by Bob Baffert and owned by Bob and Beverly Lewis, who purchased the bay colt for $750,000 at the Barretts March sale in 2005, Point Determined acts as if he will improve with more distance.

The rest of the field includes two colts -- Passive Income and Dr. Einstein -- trained by Jerry Hollendorfer; Stephen Bruce, who has won one of five for owner Stephen Weissman and trainer Ron McAnally; and R Fat Man, who beat a starter allowance field by three-quarters of a length on Dec. 29 at Bay Meadows.

The one to beat in the race is Multiple, who was a solid second to future star Kitty Hawk in her U.S. debut on Jan. 15.
