FBI Is Probing Lights Shined in Cockpits at LAX
The FBI is investigating two incidents in which bright lights, possibly laser lights, were shined into the cockpits of two passenger jets coming in to land at Los Angeles International Airport, officials said Thursday.
The incidents occurred within hours of each other Wednesday evening.
In one, United Airlines pilots reported seeing a green-and -white light shining toward them as they approached the airport. In the other, American Airlines pilots reported seeing a light over Norwalk. Both planes landed safely.
Shining laser lights at planes can be a federal offense. Sporadic incidents have been reported around the country in recent years.
