Residents Pay Tribute to Victims of Mudslide
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
About 200 residents gathered Saturday to remember the 10 people killed when a mudslide roared through their beachside community last January.
Residents congregated at the foot of the slide and held a moment of silence as the victims’ photos were displayed and their names were read aloud.
Members of the Chumash Indian tribe and a Catholic priest offered blessings. Thirteen homes were destroyed and 23 others were damaged Jan. 10.
