From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Chivas USA and the Galaxy will step away from their Major League Soccer schedules to play games at separate Southland sites tonight.

Chivas will travel to UC Santa Barbara’s Harder Stadium, where it will play host to Roma FC, a Dallas-based club, in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7.

In the second round, Roma upset Miami FC, which is led by 1994 Brazilian World Cup star Romario and plays in the United Soccer Leagues first division, a level below MLS. Roma competes in the United States Amateur Soccer Assn. and is the only amateur team left in the draw.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy will play host to Mexican club Necaxa in an exhibition at the Home Depot Center at 7:30.

The Galaxy is 1-3-2 against Necaxa since 1996 but won the last meeting, 3-1, on Dec. 3, 2004.

The Columbus Crew acquired Galaxy forward Marc Burch in exchange for Columbus’ second-round pick in the 2007 supplemental draft.

Burch, a rookie, was selected in the second round of this year’s MLS SuperDraft and appeared in three games for the Galaxy without recording a shot.
