Cage Fighter Behind Bars in Steroids Case
Professional cage fighter Buckley Acosta, 27, of Newberry Springs was charged Thursday with felony possession for sale of a controlled substance after receiving syringes filled with performance-enhancing steroids in the mail.
U.S. Customs officials flagged an undocumented package bound for Barstow from Central America earlier this week, said Sgt. Mark Franey of the Barstow Police Department. A postal inspector then delivered the package to a motorcycle repair shop where Acosta worked. Police arrested him Tuesday.
Acosta was being held on $15,000 bail. He faces a maximum four years in state prison, said Julie Peterson, a San Bernardino County deputy district attorney.
