2-Year-Old Drowns in Mandeville Canyon Pool

A 2-year-old boy died late Saturday after his parents found him floating in the backyard pool of a Mandeville Canyon home, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the boy’s parents called paramedics, who rushed to the home in the 2400 block of Banyan Drive. They administered CPR before taking the boy to UCLA Medical Center, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Paramedics were unable to detect a pulse before the hospital’s emergency staff took over resuscitation efforts, Humphrey said. The family’s name was not disclosed, and Humphrey said it was not known if they lived at the house.
