* Bryce Ortega, Palos Verdes Estates Palos Verdes: Went three for three at the plate with three RBIs and three runs, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning of the Sea Kings’ 11-4 victory over Torrance Bishop Montgomery in pool play of the El Segundo tournament.

* Adam Wilk, Cypress: Allowed five hits and two walks and struck out eight batters in six innings as the Centurions beat Downey, 3-0, in the first round of the Loara tournament.

* Jeremy Rodriguez, Encino Crespi: Had a home run and four RBIs for the Celts in a 14-2 win over host Westlake Village Oaks Christian in pool play of the Oaks Christian tournament.

SOFTBALL

* Danielle Spalding, Etiwanda: Struck out 10 batters and had the winning RBI in the Eagles’ 2-1 victory over Ontario Colony in the first round of the Sultana tournament.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

* Mike Gaudino, La Canada: Had 39 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and one ace for the host Spartans in a 25-21, 28-26, 23-25, 14-25, 15-11 nonleague victory over La Canada St. Francis.

* Cory Yoder, San Clemente: Had 24 kills in a 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 nonleague victory over Rancho Santa Margarita Tesoro.

* Trey Valbuena, Huntington Beach Edison: Had 21 kills in a 25-12, 22-25, 25-21, 25-14 nonleague victory over Dana Point Dana Hills.
