Oregon State had no trouble moving to the quarterfinals of the Pacific 10 Conference women’s basketball tournament Friday, routing 10th-seeded Washington State, 77-38, in the HP Pavilion.

The seventh-seeded Beavers (15-13), who had a career-high 27 points from Anita Rivera, and 16 points and eight rebounds from Casey Nash, ran out to a 34-15 first-half lead and didn’t look back. The 15 first-half points were the second fewest in tournament history. Stanford limited Cal to 14 points in 2003.

“We try to come out at the beginning of the game and have that ‘set the tone’ mind-set,” Oregon State Coach LaVonda Wagner said. “When we do that we can be a good basketball team.”
