The Tower Bar

Not much is more L.A. than lunch poolside at Sunset Tower, formerly known as the Argyle. The concrete palm trees are gone, so there’s nothing obstructing the view. Three Champagnes and one sparkler are offered by the glass, including a pretty Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Rose Epernay. The menu is simple: sandwiches, grilled pizzas, steak frites.

* Glass of bubbly, $10 to $22. 8358 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, (323) 848-6677.

Top of the Cove

Forty-two wines are available by the glass at this spot in the heart of La Jolla. Four of them are the bubbly variety. Have a glass of Schramsberg 2002 Blanc de Blanc on the upstairs deck with fresh oysters or a crab-cake sandwich with “freedom fries.” (Hmm, thought we were over that whole France-bashing thing.) The view of La Jolla Cove is breathtaking.

* $7 to $20 per glass. 1216 Prospect St., La Jolla, (858) 454-7779.

Oak Grill

You don’t need to be a duffer to appreciate the view of the gently rolling hills of the Ojai Valley Inn’s manicured golf course. Hold out for a seat on the terrace, which is shaded by a wisteria-covered arbor and 200-year-old oak trees. There’s a half-pound burger made with organic beef. To start, perhaps a glass of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial.

* $9 to $14 per glass. 905 Country Club Road, Ojai, (805) 646-1111.

Oceanfront

Eight Champagnes and sparkling wines are offered by the glass at this dining room in the distinctive Casa del Mar Hotel. But if you want Cristal, you’ll have to ante up for the whole bottle. A glass of Taittinger Brut Reserve, a lobster sandwich on brioche and a view of the Pacific should be a pleasant enough afternoon.

* $12 to $18 per glass. 1910 Ocean Way, Santa Monica, (310) 581-5533.

Restaurant 162’

On a clear day, you can see Catalina from this modern Californian dining room 162 feet above sea level (thus the name) in the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel. Choose from three Champagnes by the glass or a sparkling wine from Domaine Ste. Michelle. The menu is eclectic, with a Cuban sandwich gone upscale and seafood curry with jasmine rice.

* $10 to $23 per glass. 1 Ritz-Carlton Drive, Dana Point, (949) 240-5088.
