Update -- This will be the final game of the season for the Avengers, who last week ended a six-game losing streak with a 73-56 victory over playoff-bound Nashville. Rookie quarterback Sonny Cumbie, who completed five touchdown passes against the Kats, has thrown 57 this season. Remy Hamilton leads the AFL in kicking points with 159, and has made 24 of 32 field-goal attempts. Kevin Ingram leads the Avengers in all-purpose yardage with 1,669 and has a team-high 102 catches for 1,264 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Las Vegas has lost five games in a row and fired Coach Ron James after last week’s 75-28 loss at Arizona. Offensive coordinator Mike Hold will be interim coach for the Gladiators, who defeated the Avengers, 63-49, in Las Vegas on April 2. The Gladiators need a win and losses by Chicago and Utah to clinch a playoff berth.
