An impressive maiden winner when last seen in Louisiana last fall, Metro Girl will make her California debut for a new trainer in the seventh race today at Hollywood Park.

A 10 1/2 -length winner Sept. 22 at Louisiana Downs for high-percentage trainer Cole Norman, Metro Girl, a 3-year-old daughter of Dixie Union, will be running for Hall of Famer Bobby Frankel this afternoon in the $49,000 allowance at six furlongs.

Owned by Gary and Mary West, Metro Girl, who was purchased for $195,000 as a yearling at the Keeneland September sale in 2004, will be ridden by Patrick Valenzuela in her third career race. In her debut Sept. 4 at Louisiana Downs, she finished second, six lengths behind winner Kat Nan Do.

One of her six opponents today is last-out maiden winner River Song. In her first start for owner Bob Bone and trainer Mike Puype after being claimed for $62,500, the 3-year-old daughter of Siphon overcame trouble to beat $70,000 maiden claimers by one length on April 13 at Santa Anita.

Also scheduled to run are Ever So Nice, Off The Richter, Yessiremychickadee, Dafne’s Echo and Arnprior.

Race of the day: Silvestris, who flopped at 1-2 in the Dearly Precious in her last start on Feb. 20 at Aqueduct, will try to rebound today in the eighth race at Belmont Park. Eibar Coa will ride the 3-year-old Forest Wildcat filly, who has won two of seven, for Darley Stable and trainer Tom Albertrani in the $47,000 optional claimer at six furlongs. She will be opposed by Lunar Rendezvous, Star Celebrity, Birthday Song, Fighting Speedy and Kelly K’s Pleasure.

One for the road: Quickfoot makes her first start for trainer Art Sherman and can beat a weak field of maiden claimers in her California debut in the third race today at Bay Meadows. Dennis Carr will be aboard the 4-year-old daughter of Count The Time for owner-breeder Jamie Schloss in the $20,000 claimer at 5 1/2 furlongs. Quickfoot was fourth in her lone race as a 2-year-old Sept. 16 at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Exotically speaking: A late pick four using King Of The Roxy, De Brandon Boy and Pawnee in the fifth, Charming Afleet and Cotorra in the sixth, Metro Girl, River Song and Off The Richter in the seventh and John The Maitre D and Sweet Freedom in the eighth.
