Blue Line train hits man trying to cross tracks
A pedestrian was killed Monday when he was struck by a Blue Line train heading through South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The victim, identified only as an adult Latino male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
Los Angeles police said the man was struck at 8:45 p.m. while crossing the tracks at Long Beach and East Vernon avenues, possibly hurrying to get a ride on the southbound train. They said the crossing bars were down.
The victim was carrying no identification, authorities said.
