From Times Staff and Wire Reports
An autopsy has determined that the bullet that struck and killed a 21-year-old woman came from a police officer’s gun, authorities said.
Erica Hindman, a passenger in a car driven by Walter Jesus Villanueva, 23, of Altadena was shot Sept. 3 after police said they saw Villanueva firing a weapon. One officer returned fire, and the driver sped off but stopped soon after police gave chase. The woman, found wounded in the car, later died at a hospital.
