18 Arrested in Sit-in to Support Union Drive
Eighteen people were arrested Monday afternoon during a union sit-in that snarled traffic at the intersection of Wilshire and San Vicente boulevards.
The 18 were among about 300 marching in support of a campaign to organize 6,000 security guards in Los Angeles County.
Officials of Service Employees International Union Local 1877 said they chose the intersection because it is outside the headquarters of Arden Realty, which they say is pushing for restrictions on the number of guards who can join the union.
Arden officials could not be reached for comment.
