* at Minnesota 100, Phoenix 93: The Suns’ offense fell flat in the second half and Al Jefferson tied a career high with 32 points to go with 20 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves. Steve Nash had 14 points and 15 assists and Leandro Barbosa scored 16 of his 17 points in the first half for the Suns, who wore down in their fourth game in five nights. Phoenix shot 58% in the first half, but only 32.5% in the second half.

* at Charlotte 96, Cleveland 93: The Bobcats, the league’s second-worst free-throw shooting team, went 14 for 14 in the final minute to end a seven-game losing streak. Raymond Felton’s two free throws with 3.1 seconds left gave Charlotte a three-point lead. Without any timeouts left, the Cavaliers were forced to inbound from the backcourt and Larry Hughes’ half-court shot at the buzzer was well short.

* Philadelphia 105, at New York 77: The 76ers finally have a winning streak after completing a home-and-home sweep of the Knicks. It gave them consecutive victories for the first time this season, and they passed the Knicks to escape last place in the Atlantic Division. “I was searching tonight,” Knicks Coach Isiah Thomas said. “I went one through 12 just trying to find any combination that would work, any person that had some type of energy or fire. And there was nothing there tonight.”

* at Denver 101, Sacramento 97: The Kings had a chance to win it in the closing seconds. With Denver leading, 99-97, Allen Iverson turned the ball over and Sacramento had a fastbreak. Francisco Garcia missed a three-pointer with less than two seconds left.

* at Dallas 125, Utah 117: Josh Howard’s 47 points were the sixth-most in Mavericks history and topped his previous best by 17.
