Blaze spreads north of Santa Barbara
From a Times staff writer
A 300-acre brush fire was spreading rapidly Saturday night about 20 miles north of Santa Barbara in the Santa Ynez Recreation Area, officials said.
Firefighters were hampered by gusty winds and reported zero containment just before 9 p.m., said Jim Turner, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service.
No structures had been threatened or damaged.
