Beating suspect is sought in Oxnard
Oxnard police Thursday released an artist’s sketch of a man suspected in the severe beating in April of a 56-year-old woman who was attacked with a metal pipe while walking to her apartment.
The suspect is depicted in the sketch as an African American in his 30s with a medium to heavy build and a height between 5 feet 10 and 6 feet 1. He is described as having a dark complexion, “tired eyes” and a dimple on the right cheek that appears when he talks.
He is believed to have had an accomplice, described as an African American female or dark-skinned Latina, 20 to 30 years old.
She is described as about 5 feet 7 and very thin, and wears her dark hair pulled back tightly against her head. No sketch was released of her.
Police said the victim, a Latina whom authorities declined to identify, was attacked about 12:30 a.m. April 24 in the 800 block of North H Street in the central portion of Oxnard.
She had just parked her car in the neighborhood and was walking to her apartment in the 300 block of North G Street when the assailants came up to her and began to beat her on the head with a metal pipe, authorities said.
One of the assailants tried to take the woman’s purse, police said. The victim was then taken by force to her car, where she was abandoned by the assailants, police said.
The victim was treated at a hospital for severe head trauma and a broken right hand.
Oxnard police are asking anyone with information to contact Ventura County Crimestoppers at (805) 494-8255.
A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailants.
