* at Baltimore 7, New York 5: Rookie Brian Burres (5-4) took a two-hit shutout into the seventh inning, Miguel Tejada had four runs batted in and Baltimore beat Roger Clemens for its sixth consecutive victory. New York’s Alex Rodriguez, needing a home run to reach 500 for his career, struck out three times and was hitless in four at-bats. He also made an error, botching a grounder to third that led to an unearned run. Clemens (3-5) gave up four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking three.

* Minnesota 3, at Cleveland 2: Johan Santana took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning, then the Twins needed Brian Buscher’s go-ahead groundout in the ninth to defeat the Indians. Santana struck out 12 over seven innings and had a no-hitter with two out in the sixth.

* at Chicago 2, Toronto 0: Mark Buehrle (8-6) pitched eight scoreless innings, and Jerry Owens hit the first home run of his career. The White Sox have won five of six, and the Blue Jays lost their second in a row after winning a season-high five in a row. Roy Halladay (11-5) took the loss.

* at Seattle 4, Oakland 3: Kenji Johjima and Yuniesky Betancourt homered against Chad Gaudin (8-6), who lost his third decision in a row despite pitching the first complete game of his career.

* at Kansas City 6, Texas 5: John Buck had three hits and two runs batted in, and the Royals won their third in a row.

* Boston 12, at Tampa Bay 6 (12 innings): The Devil Rays have given up 83 runs during their eight-game losing streak and are 5-25 since June 25.

* at Angels 10, Detroit 3: Scot Shields pitched a hitless eighth for the victory.
