Finally, joy on ‘L Word’; happiness is the new 3-D

What it’s a good time to talk about: “The L Word.” The morose marine layer that engulfed last year’s “L Word” lifted this season -- no one died tragically! The Ls bed-hopped, broke up and played basketball, as it should be in Sapphic Los Angeles. This week marks the end of Season 4, but Showtime has already announced that Season 5 is a sure thing. (Tonight)

What nobody wants to talk about: Good Charlotte. The world’s least-punk punk rock band is back with what one can only imagine is another album (“Good Morning Revival”) of derivative pop-punk-grunge songs. Actually, some early reviews have been positive, and we’re sure the Hot Topic kids will love it. But remember when Chris Rock made fun of the band at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards? “Good Charlotte? More like mediocre Green Day,” he said. Chris Rock is awesome. (Tuesday)

What everyone should be talking about: Phil “Captain 3-D” McNally. He’s the guy who put the 3-D in Disney’s new 3-D movie, “Meet the Robinsons.” We met him a few weeks ago at a press junket for the film and were delighted to discover he loves 3-D as much as we do! It’s the best (real movie magic, as we like to say). And thanks to Captain 3-D, the 3-D in “Meet the Robinsons” is next-level, nonheadache-y, mind-blowing stuff. (Friday)

What we’re interested in talking about: “Walking on Eggshells: Navigating the Delicate Relationship Between Adult Children and Parents.” This new tome by longtime book editor Jane Isay is about the relationship between baby boomer parents and their children. Unfortunately, the book is written firmly from the baby boomer parent perspective (less useful for us, more useful for our moms), but the title struck a chord. (Tuesday)
