TODAY’S MEN’S GAMES

* UC Irvine (2-1) vs. Mississippi State (2-1), 11 a.m. -- The Anteaters are coming off a 70-51 victory over Western Athletic Conference preseason favorite Utah State. Junior center Kevin Bland was named the Big West player of the week after averaging 16 points and seven rebounds in two games. Mississippi State was 21-14 last season and reached the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament. Point guard Jamont Gordon, an All-Southeastern Conference selection last season, leads the Bulldogs. He is averaging 18 points and four assists.

* Southern Illinois (1-0) vs. Tennessee Chattanooga (1-1), 1 p.m. -- Southern Illinois advanced to the NCAA tournament Sweet 16 last season and the Salukis, who are ranked No. 19, have 6-7 forward Randal Falker among three returning starters from that team. The Mocs have been picked to finish near the bottom of the pack in the Southern Conference.

* Miami of Ohio (1-0) vs. South Alabama (2-1), 6:30 p.m. -- Miami of Ohio is the defending Mid-American Conference champion and defeated Xavier in its opener with Tim Pollitz scoring 21 points. South Alabama, picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference West division, is led by Demetric Bennett, who is averaging 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds.
