* at Central Florida 36, Texas El Paso 20: Running back Kevin Smith rushed for 219 yards to surpass 2,000 for the season in a team-record 46 carries as the Knights (9-3, 7-1) beat the Miners (4-8, 2-6) at Orlando to clinch the Conference USA East Division title.

* Tulsa 48, at Rice 43: Paul Smith threw for 441 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another score to lead the Golden Hurricane (9-3, 6-2) to the C-USA West Division title with a victory over the Owls (3-9, 3-5). Rice quarterback Chase Clement passed for 541 yards.

* at Memphis 55, Southern Methodist 52 (3 OT): Matt Reagan connected on a 32-yard field goal in the third overtime as the Tigers (7-5, 6-2) beat the Mustangs (1-11, 0-8) in a C-USA game. Memphis later accepted a bid to the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 21.

* at East Carolina 35, Tulane 12: Chris Johnson ran for two touchdowns and caught one of three scoring passes from Rob Kass to lead the Pirates (7-5, 6-2) over the Green Wave (4-8, 3-5) in a C-USA game at Greenville, N.C.

* at Marshall 46, Alabama Birmingham 39: Bernard Morris passed for 309 yards and accounted for two touchdowns to lead the Thundering Herd (3-9, 3-5) over the Blazers (2-10, 1-7) in a C-USA game at Huntington, W.Va.

* at Houston 59, Texas Southern 6: Anthony Alridge and Terrance Ganaway ran for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns each to lead the Cougars (8-4) over the Tigers (0-11).

* at Southern Mississippi 16, Arkansas State 10: Justin Estes kicked three field goals and Damion Fletcher ran for 133 yards to lead the Golden Eagles (7-5) over the Indians (5-7) at Hattiesburg. Southern Miss also accepted a bid to the Papajohns.com Bowl on Dec. 22 in Birmingham, Ala.

* Buffalo 30, at Kent State 23 (OT): Bran Thermilus scored on a one-yard run in overtime to lift the Bulls (5-7, 5-3) over the Golden Flashes (3-9, 1-7) in a MAC game at Kent, Ohio.

* Louisiana Monroe 17, at Louisiana Lafayette 11: Greg James started the scoring with a 60-yard interception return in the first quarter and the Warhawks (6-6, 4-3) never trailed in beating the Ragin’ Cajuns (3-9, 3-4) in a Sun Belt Conference game.

* Florida Atlantic 55, at Florida International 23: Rusty Smith threw four touchdown passes and the Owls (6-5, 5-1) rolled over the Golden Panthers (0-11, 0-6) in a Sun Belt game at Miami.
