NO. 8 KENTUCKY (5-0) AT NO. 11 SOUTH CAROLINA (4-1)
* Kickoff: Tonight, 4:30 PDT.
* TV: ESPN.
* Line: South Carolina by 3 1/2 .
* Kentucky update: The Wildcats have been one of the season’s biggest surprises with victories over Louisville and Arkansas. They are gunning for their first 6-0 start since 1950, when Bear Bryant was coach. Quarterback Andre Woodson has 1,309 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. He has thrown one intercepted pass. The Wildcats are fifth in the nation at 46.6 points a game and 12th in total offense at 492.2 yards a game.
* South Carolina update: The Gamecocks rank No. 1 in the nation against the pass, giving up only 106.4 yards a game. Opposing quarterbacks have completed only 46.2% of their passes against them. Last week, Coach Steve Spurrier switched quarterbacks and freshman Chris Smelley responded with 279 passing yards and two touchdowns. South Carolina has won seven consecutive games against Kentucky and Spurrier is 14-0 as a coach against the Wildcats.
* Story line: It’s a matchup of rapidly rising programs that are gunning to end the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division dominance of Florida, Georgia and Tennessee -- the only teams that have won the division since the SEC split in 1992.
* The pick: Kentucky. South Carolina’s defensive stats are impressive, but they haven’t yet faced a quarterback as good as Woodson.
