NO. 14 FLORIDA (4-2) AT NO. 8 KENTUCKY (6-1)

Share

* Kickoff: Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

* TV: Channel 2.

* Line: Florida by 6 1/2 .

* Florida update: The Gators have lost consecutive games, but were off last week, giving them a chance to regroup. The time off was marked by tragedy, though, as defensive back Michael Guilford died in a motorcycle crash. They’ll try to channel their emotions into the game and avoid their first three-game losing streak since 1999. Quarterback Tim Tebow is a one-man show with 13 touchdowns passing and nine rushing.

* Kentucky update: The Wildcats are coming off a victory over then-No. 1 Louisiana State and their reward is a date with the defending national champion. They have lost 20 consecutive games against Florida and will rely on an offense led by quarterback Andre Woodson. He has passed for 21 touchdowns and Kentucky is No. 7 in the nation in scoring at 42.7 points per game. The Wildcats have holes on defense, however, and are giving up 194.7 rushing yards per game.

* Story line: Despite its victory last week, Kentucky is fighting for respect. The Wildcats are a home underdog in this game and did not pass LSU in the rankings. The Gators must win to keep alive hopes of a Southeastern Conference title.

* The pick: Florida. It’s doesn’t seem probable that the Wildcats can survive SEC heavyweights on consecutive weeks.
