* at Pittsburgh 24, No. 23 Cincinnati 17: LaRod Stephens-Howling scored the go-ahead touchdown and was one of two running backs with at least 100 yards rushing, helping the Panthers (3-4, 1-1) upset the Bearcats (6-2, 1-2). Stephens-Howling had 100 yards in 13 carries and LeSean McCoy had 137 yards in 25 carries. It was the first time Pitt had two 100-yard rushers since 1988.
* at No. 9 West Virginia 38, Mississippi State 13: Pat White threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score in the first half, leading the Mountaineers (6-1) over the Bulldogs (4-4) at Morgantown. Steve Slaton rushed for 127 yards and a score for West Virginia.
* at Syracuse 20, Buffalo 12: Doug Hogue and Mike Williams scored in the final minute of the first half to break a tie score, and the Orange (2-6) defeated the Bulls (3-5) at Syracuse, N.Y., to end a three-game losing streak.
