Los Angeles police said late Saturday that they had found a 5-year-old girl who was missing after her mother was found slain in her home.

Police identified the girl as Kenyon Elaine Anderson, who apparently was found in the Palmdale area.

Officers found her mother stabbed to death early Saturday afternoon in the bathroom of her West 42nd Street home. The woman’s name was not released.

A man suspected in the killing, Damiean Johnson, 27, was arrested Saturday evening in San Bernardino County, officers said. He is believed to have been the mother’s boyfriend but is not the girl’s father, officers said.

At the time of his arrest, Johnson provided no information about the girl’s whereabouts, said police spokeswoman Karen Smith, who had no details on how the girl was found, but said “she appears to be in good condition.”
