* Seattle 14, at Detroit 7: Ichiro Suzuki scored in each of the first four innings and the Mariners broke out of a long slump, winning for only the second time in 15 games. Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer, Adrian Beltre had four RBIs and Jose Guillen drove in three runs. Felix Hernandez (12-7) earned the win despite giving up seven runs -- six earned -- and 10 hits with three walks over five-plus innings.

* New York 6, at Kansas City 3: Chien-Ming Wang earned his 18th win to remain tied for the major league lead, and Jorge Posada hit a tiebreaking, two-run double that helped the Yankees extend their wild-card lead to four games over Detroit. Playing without Derek Jeter, held out with a sore knee, the Yankees stayed 5 1/2 games back of first-place Boston in the AL East. Wang (18-6) gave up a three-run double to rookie Alex Gordon but went seven innings to win his fifth start in a row.

* Minnesota 5, at Chicago 2: Jason Kubel hit a three-run homer and added a run-scoring single and Johan Santana struck out 10 in seven innings. Jim Thome hit his 498th home run, a solo shot against reliever Juan Rincon in the eighth inning. It’s the third straight game Thome has homered, giving him 26 on the season.

* at Tampa Bay 3, Toronto 2: Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena hit consecutive homers in the sixth inning for the Devil Rays, who have won four straight series for the first time since winning six straight in June 2004.

* at Texas 12, Oakland 9: Sammy Sosa hit a three-run homer to cap an eight-run second inning as the Rangers completed a three-game sweep. Sosa’s 607th career homer and 19th of the season came on the second pitch he saw from Oakland reliever Colby Lewis. The shot, estimated at 442 feet, landed in the second deck above a left-field scoreboard.

* Boston 3, at Baltimore 2: Coco Crisp singled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, Mike Lowell drove in two runs and Dustin Pedroia had three hits for the Red Sox, who finished 6-3 in Baltimore this year. Boston has had a winning record at Camden Yards every season since 1998, going 54-23 during that span.

* Cleveland 6, at Angels 2: Ryan Garko hit a three-run homer and the Indians split the four-game series between division leaders.
