1 killed, 2 injured in shooting
A 39-year-old woman was killed and two others injured in a shooting early Sunday in East Los Angeles.
Authorities said Sheila Montelongo and at least two other people were standing outside a home where a birthday party was underway in the 1300 block of South Downey Road when a man walked into the street about 12:45 a.m. and started firing.
Montelongo was shot once in the back and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Derrick Thompson.
