Gunmen shoot at group, killing one
Five people standing on a South Los Angeles street were shot -- one fatally -- Monday evening by gunmen who fired from a dark blue SUV and fled, authorities said.
A 45-year-old man died, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division.
Officer Karen Smith, an LAPD spokeswoman, said a Chevy Blazer carrying at least two people opened fire about 5:30 p.m. on the group standing outside at 132 W. 70th St. Police were still searching for the suspects late Monday.
Smith said the other victims included a boy, 5, whose arm was grazed by a bullet; a 16-year-old youth shot in the leg; and a 21-year-old woman shot in the foot. She had no immediate information on the fifth victim.
