Buffalo 4, at Boston 2: Daniel Paille scored twice and Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots to lead the Sabres. Thomas Vanek broke a second-period tie to help Buffalo win for the fourth time in five games.

Philadelphia 3, at Atlanta 2: Antero Nittymaki stopped 23 shots to stay perfect in eight decisions against the Thrashers and Steve Downie scored with 4:29 left in the third period to give the Flyers the victory.

Washington 4, at Columbus 3 (OT): Alexander Ovechkin added to his NHL-leading goal total by scoring twice, including the winner in overtime. Ovechkin netted a low, hard shot from the right circle 2:28 into overtime after taking a pass from Tom Poti. It was his 45th of the season.

at Montreal 4, Ottawa 3: Tomas Plekanec had two goals and an assist and the Canadiens’ top line combined for nine points. Montreal ended a six-game losing streak against Ottawa.

Florida 8, at Toronto 0: Richard Zednik score three goals and Tomas Vokoun stopped all 23 shots he faced. The Panthers have won three in a row.

Detroit 3, at Minnesota 2 (OT): Dan Cleary tied the score with 1:20 to play in regulation and Brett Lebda scored 1:37 into overtime as the Red Wings won their eighth in a row.

at Nashville 1, Carolina 0: Chris Mason made 31 saves for his fourth shutout. J.P. Dumont scored for the Predators, who have won four in a row.

Tampa Bay 5, at St. Louis 4: Jason Ward scored his first goal in six weeks to help the Lightning to its fifth consecutive road victory. It was Tampa Bay’s first win in St. Louis since Oct. 13, 1992, its first visit in its initial season.

at Dallas 3, Vancouver 2 (SO): Brenden Morrow scored in the sixth round of the shootout and the Stars extended their winning streak to four games. Morrow added a goal and an assist in regulation and Dallas extended its Pacific Division lead to four points over San Jose.

at Calgary 4, Phoenix 3 (SO): Jarome Iginla tied the score with nine seconds left in regulation, then scored the shootout-winner as the Flames overcame a three-goal, third-period deficit. Rookie Peter Mueller had all three goals for Phoenix.

Ducks 3, at N.Y. Islanders 0: Teemu Selanne set up Scott Niedermayer’s power-play goal in the second period. Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 25 shots.

Kings 4, at N.Y. Rangers 2: Alexander Frolov and Anze Kopitar each had a goal and an assist to lead the Kings.
