Grammy lifetime achievement: In a roundup of critical comments about the Grammys in Monday’s Calendar section, an item about the juxtaposition between Amy Winehouse’s performance and a tribute to Doris Day said that the Grammy lifetime achievement award is intended for an artist who has never received a trophy in a competitive race. In fact, while some lifetime achievement awards do go to artists who have never previously won Grammys, the Recording Academy says the award is meant to recognize performers who have made “creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.”
