Long Beach State beats UC Riverside
Donavan Morris scored 26 points, Greg Plater made a career-high six three-point baskets and Long Beach State defeated UC Riverside, 56-46, Wednesday night at the Pyramid.
Morris, who made only four of 17 shots from the field, made 11 of 12 free throws in the final 1:35 as the 49ers, 6-17 overall, 3-8 in the Big West Conference, avenged an earlier loss to the Highlanders (5-16, 2-8).
Larry Cunningham made two free throws to cut the 49ers’ lead to 50-46 with 29 seconds left, but Morris made six free throws to secure the win.
