Loyola Marymount falls to St. Mary’s, 87-55

Diamon Simpson had 21 points and six rebounds, and St. Mary’s remained unbeaten in West Coast Conference play with an 87-55 victory over Loyola Marymount on Monday night at Moraga, Calif.

Omar Samhan had 16 points and 11 rebounds. The 6-foot-11 center made his first eight shots and finished eight for nine to help the Gaels (16-2, 3-0) win their fourth consecutive game.

Quentin Turner scored 14 points for the Lions (4-16, 1-3), who struggled to get open looks against a pressure man-to-man defense and were out-rebounded, 42-27.

Freshman Orlando Johnson scored nine of his 11 points in the first half for the Lions, who lost on the road for the fifth consecutive time.

Santa Clara 101, Pepperdine 86 -- Brody Angley recorded career highs with 24 points and 13 assists and the host Broncos reached the century mark for the first time in 14 years.

Ben Dowdell had 17 points for the Broncos (10-8, 2-1 WCC), who won their second game in a row after a three-game losing streak.

Mychel Thompson and Malcolm Thomas each scored 16 points for the Waves (6-14, 0-4), who are 2-10 since a four-game winning streak. Daniel Johnson had 13 points and Tyler Tucker had 12.
