Iverson’s late surge earns All-Star start
With a late rally, Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson is an All-Star starter again.
Iverson came from behind in the fan voting to earn a starting spot in the Feb. 17 game when the vote totals were released Thursday night.
Iverson was more than 80,000 votes behind Houston’s Tracy McGrady at guard when the final update was released two weeks ago. He ended up with 1,203,152 votes. McGrady finished with 1,192,742. Iverson, a two-time most valuable player of the All-Star game, will make his ninth appearance in earning his first start since moving to the Western Conference early last season with his trade to Denver.
Boston’s Kevin Garnett (2,399,148) was the leading vote-getter. Cleveland’s LeBron James, the leading vote-getter last season, was second with 2,108,831 votes.
Reserves will be named next week.

Cleveland guard Sasha Pavlovic could miss up to two months because of a sprained left foot, suffered Wednesday against Washington.
Pavlovic, who missed training camp in a contract holdout, is averaging 7.3 points.
