Texas 9, at Oakland 4: Josh Hamilton hit a three-run homer to increase his major league-leading RBI total to 103, and the Rangers beat All-Star pitcher Justin Duchscherer. Duchscherer (10-7) is winless in three starts since the All-Star break.

New York 10, at Boston 3: Robinson Cano homered and drove in three runs, Andy Pettitte (12-7) went six innings and the Yankees won their eighth in a row. Cano, who hit .219 in his first 54 games, is batting .514 (18 for 35) since the All-Star break.

at Toronto 8, Seattle 3: Alex Rios homered twice and David Purcey earned his first major league win as the Blue Jays won their fifth in a row and handed the Mariners their seventh consecutive defeat.

Minnesota 11, at Cleveland 4: Fausto Carmona’s return to the Indians’ rotation was a rocky one. The right-hander, who sat out two months because of a strained left hip, gave up nine runs in 2 1/3 innings, including six in the first. Brian Buscher hit a three-run homer and had a career-high five RBIs to help the Twins end a five-game losing streak.

Chicago 7, at Detroit 6: Carlos Quentin and Jermaine Dye hit consecutive homers and drove in two runs each and Justin Verlander continued to struggle against the White Sox. The Detroit right-hander is 2-7 with a 6.03 ERA against Chicago in his career, including 1-3 with a 6.15 ERA this season.

Tampa Bay 5, at Kansas City 3: Carl Crawford’s tiebreaking, two-run triple with two out in the eighth inning helped the Rays increase their AL East lead to two games over Boston. Crawford had his seventh career two-triple game and second of the season.

Angels 11, at Baltimore 6: The Angels are on a 100-win pace. The club record is 99, in 2002.
