Boston 7, at Philadelphia 4: J.D. Drew tied a career-high with four hits and fell a triple short of the cycle for the Red Sox. Drew hit a three-run homer in the first inning, doubled in the third, had an RBI single in the fourth, singled in the sixth but tapped out in the eighth.

at Arizona 11, Oakland 1: Dominating his former team, Dan Haren gave up one run and drove in three for the Diamondbacks. Haren (7-4) limited the A’s to four hits in seven innings, walking one and striking out eight. Arizona rebounded from a 15-1 loss in the series opener.

Detroit 7, at San Francisco 2: Placido Polanco had four hits, drove in two runs and scored three as the Tigers knocked out Barry Zito (2-11) after only two innings. Zito, with one win in his last five starts, gave up five runs and five hits, struck out two and walked four.

at Tampa Bay 5, Chicago Cubs 4: Andy Sonnanstine (8-3) gave up three runs in five innings to help the Rays clinch their ninth straight series at home. B.J. Upton, Eric Hinske, Evan Longoria and Willy Aybar drove in runs off Carlos Zambrano (8-3) during Tampa Bay’s four-run third.

at New York Yankees 8, San Diego 5: Alex Rodriguez homered for the fourth straight game in the Yankees’ season-high sixth straight victory. New York chased NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy (5-4) after four innings in his second start since coming off the disabled list.

Kansas City 3, at St. Louis 2: David DeJesus and Alex Gordon hit solo home runs in the eighth inning, rallying Brian Bannister (6-6) and the Royals to a win that improved them to 6-2 in interleague play. Kansas City had been 0-37 this season when trailing after seven innings.

at Milwaukee 5, Toronto 4: Mike Cameron and Russell Branyan homered and relievers Carlos Villanueva, Brian Shouse, Guillermo Mota and Salomon Torres combined to give up two runs and six hits after starter Ben Sheets (8-1) left with a 4-2 lead after six innings.

at Chicago White Sox 8, Pittsburgh 2: Toby Hall hit his first home run since June 4, 2006 to back Mark Buehrle (4-6), who lost a no-hit bid in the sixth when Jose Bautista homered on the first pitch. Buehrle gave up two runs and four hits in eight innings.

at Colorado 4, Cleveland 2: Jeff Baker homered and scored three runs and Jeff Francis pitched six innings of one-run ball for the Rockies. Omar Quintanilla went two for three and had two RBIs for the Rockies. Brian Fuentes got his 12th save in 15 chances.

at Minnesota 11, Washington 2: Kevin Slowey (4-6) won his second straight start since his worst outing of the year and Justin Morneau had three RBIs. Slowey, who gave up 12 earned runs and 17 hits in nine innings in his first two June starts, allowed one run in six innings.

Florida 8, at Seattle 3: Dan Uggla and Mike Jacobs hit long two-run homers for the Marlins and the top home run hitting team in the majors added to their league-leading total (106) in winning first road series since a sweep of the Washington Nationals May 9-11.

Atlanta 5, at Texas 2: Omar Infante hit a tiebreaking single, and the Braves scored three times in the ninth inning to beat the Rangers. Jeff Bennett (1-4) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the victory.

at Baltimore 2, Houston 1 (10 innings): Kevin Millar singled in the winning run in the 10th inning to help hand the Astros their seventh straight loss. Baltimore was 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position before Millar’s hit.

New York Mets 5, at Angels 4 (10 innings): Jerry Manuel got his first victory as manager of the Mets.

Dodgers 6, at Cincinnati 1: The Reds’ Bronson Arroyo (4-6) remained winless since May 26.
