* Minnesota 3, at San Diego 1: Brendan Harris and Brian Buscher hit solo home runs on consecutive pitches against Trevor Hoffman (1-5) in the ninth inning and the Twins won their seventh in a row. Harris connected on the first pitch after Hoffman (1-5) struck out his first two batters. Buscher followed with his first homer. When Hoffman got the final out in the ninth, he was serenaded with boos from the home crowd.

* at Pittsburgh 12, New York Yankees 5: Jose Bautista and Ryan Doumit homered and the Pirates scored their first victory against the Yankees since the 1960 World Series. The Pirates had been the only team in the majors to not beat the Yankees in a regular-season game.

* Milwaukee 4, at Atlanta 3: Dave Bush (4-7) earned his first road victory of the season, scattering four hits over seven innings.

* St. Louis 8, at Detroit 4: Brian Barton, Skip Schumaker and Brendan Ryan each drove in two runs. Braden Looper (9-5) gave up four runs and three homers in six-plus innings. Kenny Rogers (5-5) was roughed up for five runs in 5 1/3 innings.

* at Boston 5, Arizona 4: A slumping Jason Varitek capped a four-run eighth inning with a go-ahead single. The Red Sox had six hits in the inning, one more than their total in the first seven innings.

* San Francisco 3, at Cleveland 2: Jonathan Sanchez (7-4) won for the fifth time in six starts in the first game between the franchises in Cleveland since the 1954 World Series.

* at Toronto 14, at Cincinnati 1: Scott Rolen hit one of the Blue Jays’ three homers and A.J. Burnett (7-7) pitched eight strong innings.

* Seattle 11, at New York Mets 0: Raul Ibanez homered and drove in three runs and knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (2-3) tossed seven sharp innings.

* Tampa Bay 6, at Florida 4: Dioner Navarro and Eric Hinske drew bases-loaded walks in the eighth inning and Evan Longoria hit a two-run double in the ninth.

* Baltimore 7, at Chicago Cubs 5: Brian Roberts had three hits and the Orioles ended the Cubs’ 14-game home winning streak.

* at Houston 4, Texas 3: Lance Berkman had a two-run homer among his two hits to break out of a three-game hitless streak.

* at Kansas City 7, Colorado 3: Zack Greinke matched a career high with 10 strikeouts and Alex Gordon hit a two-run homer. The Royals have won four in a row and nine of 10, all against National League clubs.

* at Oakland 5, Philadelphia 2: Emil Brown hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh to spoil a strong outing by Jamie Moyer. Joe Blanton (4-10) gave up Pat Burrell’s 19th home run in the fourth but didn’t make many other mistakes in a solid 119-pitch performance.

* Angels 8, at Washington 3: Mike Napoli helped the Angels to a six-run first inning with a run-scoring double. The Angels have won 10 of their last 11 on the road.

* Chicago White Sox 6, at Dodgers 1: Mark Buehrle (5-6) pitched eight solid innings and Jermaine Dye hit a two-run homer.
