Woman held in shooting death
Police arrested a woman this week in connection with the investigation of a Sunland woman’s death that authorities are viewing as perhaps the result of domestic violence.
Gail Wardle, 46, was taken Monday to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where she died just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner. Wardle, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, died “possibly due to domestic” violence from a “significant other,” Winter said.
Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call just after 4 p.m. on Monday and found Wardle near Wentworth and Sheldon streets in the Sun Valley area. Wardle had received a gunshot wound from a small-caliber weapon and was unable to speak, said Sgt. Scott Kennedy of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers from the Foothill Division arrested and booked Juliette Minjarez, 43, of Sun Valley, on suspicion of murder early Tuesday, Det. Jose Martinez said. Her bail was set at $1 million.
