Man arrested in anthrax mail hoax
The FBI arrested a 66-year-old man Wednesday in Sacramento on suspicion of mailing 120 hoax anthrax packets, including one to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Marc Keyser was arrested without incident. No alleged motive was announced.
A packet marked as anthrax arrived at the newspaper along with a CD with the name of Colin Powell scrawled on it. The FBI and San Diego Fire Department shut down the employee entrance to the newspaper.
A field test determined that the contents were not anthrax, a spokesman said. Other packets were sent to media organizations, a congressional office and at least two restaurants, the FBI said.
