Seattle 12, at Texas 6: Adrian Beltre hit for the cycle and finished with five hits to help the Mariners win their fourth game in a row. Beltre, who had the third five-hit game of his career, became the fourth Mariner to hit for the cycle when he had a run-scoring triple against Josh Rupe in the eighth inning. John Olerud had been the last Mariner to hit for the cycle, on June 16, 2001, against the San Diego Padres.

Chicago 5, at Cleveland 0: Cliff Lee (20-2) became the Indians’ first 20-game winner in 34 years, pitching a five-hitter for his second career shutout. The left-hander’s milestone win -- his ninth straight victory -- came exactly one year to the day that he was recalled from the minor leagues.

New York 13, at Detroit 9: Alex Rodriguez sparked a scoring barrage with a two-run single in the first inning and drove in a run in each of the next two innings to help the Yankees take an 11-2 lead. Justin Verlander (10-15) lasted a career-low 1 2/3 innings and gave up eight runs -- five earned -- seven hits and two walks.
