* at Arizona 4, St. Louis 3: Adam Dunn doubled home the winning run in the ninth inning as the Diamondbacks rallied for the second time in three games against the Cardinals’ bullpen, whose 29 losses are the most in the majors.
* San Francisco 9, at Colorado 2: Barry Zito won for the third time in four starts as the Giants slowed the Rockies. Zito (9-16), who lost his first nine decisions, gave up two runs and four hits in eight innings, throwing a season-high 123 pitches.
* New York 9, at Milwaukee 2: Ryan Church hit a grand slam and Brian Schneider had a homer in a six-run first inning that provided all the offense the Mets needed to complete a three-game sweep.
* at Florida 5, Atlanta 3: Hanley Ramirez homered and doubled to lead the Marlins past the Braves in front of an incredibly sparse crowd on a day with sweltering humidity and heat topping 90 degrees.
* at Washington 9, Philadelphia 7: Cristian Guzman set a franchise record with his eighth consecutive multi-hit game, capping it with a bases-clearing double in the decisive eighth inning. Guzman is batting .538 (21 for 39) during his streak.
* Pittsburgh 6, at Cincinnati 5: Adam LaRoche ended an 0-for-16 slump with a pair of RBI singles to lead the Pirates. Edinson Volquez struck out a career-high 13 in seven innings for the Reds.
* Houston 4, at Chicago 0: Randy Wolf pitched a six-hitter for his eighth career shutout and Ty Wigginton homered as the Astros won their eighth straight for the second time this season and the Cubs lost their season-high fifth in a row.
* at Dodgers 6, San Diego 4: Blake DeWitt, Angel Berroa and Casey Blake homered in the victory.
