Two Big 12 Conference quarterbacks, Missouri’s Chase Daniel and Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, both made strong statements Saturday in the early race for the Heisman Trophy. A look at their efforts and those of other hopefuls:

CHASE DANIEL, senior quarterback, Missouri

Daniel led the Tigers to a touchdown or a field goal in eight consecutive drives in a 69-17 victory over Nevada, giving him 13 in a row over the last two games. Stats: 23 of 28 passing for 405 yards and four touchdowns.

SAM BRADFORD, sophomore quarterback, Oklahoma

The Sooners dominated in an easy 55-14 win at Washington and so did Bradford, who has thrown 12 touchdowns with only two interceptions in three games. Stats: 18 of 21 passing for 302 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.

MARK SANCHEZ, junior quarterback, USC

In the Trojans’ win over Ohio State, Sanchez provided solid leadership -- and four touchdown passes. Stats: 17 of 28 passing for 172 yards with one interception.

JEVON RINGER, senior running back, Michigan State

With the Spartans reluctant to pass, Ringer carried the team to a physical, 17-0 victory over Florida Atlantic. Stats: 43 carries for 282 yards and two touchdowns.

JEREMY MACLIN, sophomore receiver, Missouri

The Tigers’ versatile wideout made several big plays and had 239 total yards against Nevada. Stats: six catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns; six total returns for 62 yards and two rushes for five yards.

CHRIS WELLS, junior running back, Ohio State

The Buckeyes’ main rushing force did not play against USC and has played less than a half in each of the Buckeyes’ three games.

TIM TEBOW, junior quarterback, Florida
