Investigators have determined that the shooting death of a 49-year-old woman at her home near Toluca Lake is linked to an unpaid debt, authorities said Thursday.

Armen Mangasaryan, 29, of Burbank and Arpiar Tergalstanyan, 20, of Glendale were arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting a woman who answered her door about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Robert Quesada said. Both men are being held without bail.

The victim and her boyfriend were renting a two-story home in the 4200 block of West Jacaranda Avenue, he said. The victim’s name was not released because family members who live outside the country had not yet been contacted.

Officers impounded a black Mercedes-Benz that may have been used to drive to the house and found a handgun in the vehicle, Quesada said.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that others were involved. The homicide is Burbank’s first this year, and police want residents to know that the shooting was not random.
