Prosecute hazing

Share

Re “Autopsy confirms alcohol poisoning,” California Briefing, Jan. 22

The Times reports that an 18-year-old freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo died of alcohol poisoning, with an alcohol blood level between 0.39% and 0.45% when he died after a party -- probably from hazing by members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, which he was pledging.

How many more young men and women must die from the illegal hazing by fraternities before these arrogant, seemingly intelligent fraternity members are charged with murder or, at the very least, assisted suicide?

These students should be expelled from college, prosecuted and punished. They should never be reinstated or allowed to graduate.

It is time to make them an example to all fraternities -- that this behavior will no longer be accepted and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Our heartfelt condolences to the student’s parents.
