Brady Quinn, benched by Cleveland Browns Coach Eric Mangini 2 1/2 games into the season, will start Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team the former Notre Dame star was facing Sept. 27 when he was yanked at halftime.

“I’m excited to play,” he said. “I’m excited to be part of Monday night.”

Mangini’s decision to switch back from Derek Anderson to Quinn wasn’t met with overwhelming support in Cleveland’s locker room. Several Browns players interviewed Wednesday said they were unaware of Quinn’s return to the top of the depth chart.

Edwards back

The Buffalo Bills are going back to quarterback Trent Edwards, who will start against Tennessee this weekend after missing two games because of a concussion.

Coach Dick Jauron said Edwards has “earned the right” to start after the offense continued to struggle under backup Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bills opened the season 1-4 under Edwards before he sustained his second concussion in a little over a year in an overtime road win against the New York Jets.

Meanwhile, the Bills’ Terrell Owens missed practice because of a strained hip.

Jauron said Owens’ hip began bothering him during the team’s day off, and he noted the receiver was feeling “very uncomfortable” when he arrived for meetings. It’s unclear how Owens was hurt.

Jauron was unsure if Owens would be able to practice as the Bills (3-5) prepare to visit the Titans (2-6) on Sunday.

Hanson suspended

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Joselio Hanson was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league’s drug policy.

Hanson’s attorney, David Cornwell, said in a statement that Hanson did not use steroids but tested positive for a diuretic after last year’s NFC title game against Arizona.

While not specifying what product Hanson used, Cornwell said the player “felt bloated after eating Chinese food and ingested a pill that turned out to be a diuretic.”

Chiefs hit again

The beleaguered offense of the Kansas City Chiefs took another hit when right guard Mike Goff went on injured reserve. The news comes in the wake of the Chiefs’ releasing their most accomplished running back, Larry Johnson, after an incident involving his Twitter account.

More injuries

Linebacker Joey Porter and guard Justin Smiley were sidelined with injuries as the Miami Dolphins prepare for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay. . . . San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Isaac Bruce, who has been dealing with a bad ankle most of the season, rolled it during practice and is questionable for tonight’s game against the Chicago Bears.
