Arraignment in death delayed
A 69-year-old man charged with killing a 3-year-old girl with his sport utility vehicle outside a Diamond Bar elementary school will be arraigned next month, officials said Tuesday.
Conrado Pantig Maglonzo was charged last week with vehicular manslaughter, a misdemeanor, in the Nov. 26, 2008, death of Michelle Kwon. He was originally scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Pomona Superior Court, but the hearing was postponed until Dec. 18.
Maglonzo was speeding when he veered onto a sidewalk outside Maple Hill Elementary School and hit the girl, who was walking with her father and sister, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors recommended setting bail at $25,000.
