RYDER CUP RESULTS

Europe 9½, USA 6½

Notes: USA led going into the session, 6-4. Competition will end Monday with 12 singles matches. USA needs 7½ more points to retain Cup, Europe needs 5 to win it back.

MATCH RESULTS, FOURSOMES

Luke Donald-Lee Westwood, Europe beat Steve Stricker- Tiger Woods, 6 and 5.

Notes: This was Woods’ most lopsided Ryder Cup loss. It was also the largest margin of victory since Sam Torrance and Constantino Rocca beat Davis Love III and Jeff Maggert in 1995. Westwood has won his last nine foursome matches and Donald has won all six of his. This was the first team loss of any kind for Stricker-Woods in seven matches.

Graeme McDowell-Rory McIlroy, Europe beat Zach Johnson-Hunter Mahan, 3 and 1.

Notes: The two close friends from Northern Ireland, who had lost one and halved another in their first two matches, never trailed and won when McIlroy sank a 15-footer for a birdie on No. 17.

MATCH RESULTS, FOUR-BALL

Padraig Harrington-Ross Fisher, Europe beat Jim Furyk-Dustin Johnson, 2 and 1.

Notes: Fisher carried a struggling Harrington throughout, sinking the clinching 20-footer on No. 16. The Europeans led from the second hole on and never cracked. Johnson joined Phil Mickelson as the only Team USA players without any points so far.

Peter Hanson-Miguel Angel Jimenez, Europe beat Bubba Watson-Jeff Overton, 2-up.

Notes: Watson and Overton each had long putts on No. 18 to earn a half point, but each missed. Jimenez, the oldest competitor at 46, sank the eventual winning putt with his 30-footer on No. 16.

Ian Poulter-Martin Kaymer, Europe beat Phi Mickelson-Rickie Fowler, 2 and 1.

Notes: Like the other European teams, Poulter and Kaymer started fast Saturday and never trailed. Mickelson and Fowler got it to even on the 13th hole, when Mickelson made a birdie. But they slipped back again on the next hole. Mickelson has now played on eight Ryder Cup teams and been on just two winners, pending Monday’s outcome.

Edoardo Molinari-Francesco Molinari, Europe all square with Stewart Cink-Matt Kuchar.

Notes: Even this half point was a victory for Europe. Cink and Kuchar, to date the strongest U.S. team, took over the lead on the 13th hole and were 1-up going to No. 18. But Cink played himself out of the hole in the rough, Kuchar missed a 20-footer for birdie and that left both Molinari brothers with short runs at birdies. Edoardo missed his 12-footer, then Francesco dropped in his three-footer. Europe had scored 5½ points out of a possible six in the session.
